Common Feng Shui Mistakes to Avoid

Even with the best intentions, it’s easy to make common mistakes that can inadvertently hinder your energy flow.

  • Clutter, Clutter, Clutter (Worth Repeating!): The biggest offender. Nothing good can flow in if the space is blocked.
  • Mirrors Facing Beds: Can disrupt sleep and bring too much “active” energy.
  • Toilets Facing the Front Door: Symbolically flushes away incoming wealth. Keep bathroom doors closed and toilet lids down.
  • Doors Aligned (Front to Back): Creates a “straight shot” for Qi to rush out, rather than circulate gently. Use a screen, plant, or rug to slow the flow.
  • Dead or Dying Plants: Remove them immediately. They bring negative, draining energy.
  • Overly Aggressive Decor: Too many sharp angles, aggressive art, or an overabundance of one element can create imbalance.
  • Shoes Cluttering the Entryway: Block the flow of new opportunities. Use a shoe rack or cabinet (amazon link).
  • Dirty Windows: Obscure your vision and opportunities.
